The Algarve situated in southern Portugal is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

One of the reasons that the Algarve is so popular is that everyone can find something that interests them there. If one is looking for historical places to visit then the Algarve has it, if one is looking for water sports then the Algarve has it, if one is looking for golf then the Algarve has lots of it and if one is looking for pure leisure and pleasure then the Algarve has that too.

One can get to the Algarve a number of ways. One can fly to Faro airport from most places in the world or one can take a ferry or boat to the Port of Portimao. The Algarve is a part of mainland Europe and as such one can also drive there through Spain or Portugal itself.

Once you have arrived at Faro airport there are many different regions and towns to choose from in the Algarve such as Vilamoura, Faro itself and Portimao all of which have good selections of hotels and holiday houses, studios and apartments for tourists to choose from, depending on what it is they are looking for.

Once one has settled in to one’s chosen accommodation one can start to enjoy the fabulous on-site facilities most of these holiday resorts provide or one can start to explore the numerous sights and activities that the Algarve has to offer.

Another reason that the Algarve is so popular is the weather which is very good most of the year – tourists like to go where the sun is shining.

One can always find something interesting to do in the Algarve. There are so many activities on offer and so many places to visit that there is no time to be bored at all. Most of the hotels and resorts also provide the kids with kids clubs and there are even some places that have separate pools for kids and adults which some people think is a fantastic idea. The Algarve is also famous for its wonderful restaurants and we all know how good food is important after a long day. It doesn’t matter what one has been doing, playing golf, sunbathing, swimming, sailing, horse riding, relaxing in the spa or sightseeing, everybody loves a good restaurant with a good atmosphere to end a perfect day.
